However, having a kitchen full of tools and machines may be very time-consuming because we have to take care of them.

But, in the first place, we have to know how to take care of the tools. If we have no idea how to clean and maintain them, we can just realize one day that we have lost our money by spending it on something that broke within a few months. Each kitchen tool has its own instructions for maintenance.

Besides that, we have to know how to safely use them to prevent unwanted accidents in the kitchen, especially those involving pets or kids. A deep fryer is one of these tools that require special “treatment”. If you have one, you can read our maintenance and safety tips below.

This may be one of the most important things you have to take into account when taking care of your deep fryer. Moreover, this is important for your health, as well. As we all know, if you cook too many times in the same oil, it may be harmful to your health, because there is a possibility for the oil to be toxic.

In order to be able to determine the oil change frequency, you can ask for a piece of advice from your manufacturer. You can also take into consideration what type of food you usually fry or at what temperature you do this, because it will also influence the result.

 

Regular checks

As all tools and machines need an inspection from time to time, so does a deep fryer, especially if you use it frequently (and if you have kids we bet you use it frequently, since kids love fried food).

If you want to make sure that your deep fryer is working properly and that it has no oil leaks or any other malfunctions, you can take it to someone who is specialized in the domain. Of course, you can do it yourself if you know the steps of an inspection.

Turn it off and let it cool. Throw out the water and wipe the interior with the cloth. Make sure that you properly rinse the fryer with water after following these steps.

The next thing is to mix the baking soda with water and scrub the combination where scum remains. Then, just use your cloth again to rub the water and baking soda mix on the residue. Give the deep fryer’s interior a good rinse at the end.

If you follow all these steps, your deep fryer will always stay “healthy”. You can also use vinegar mixed with water to wash your deep fryer, because, as we all know, vinegar works well as an odor eliminator.

 

 

Safety tips

It is very important to monitor oil temperature while frying because if it gets higher than needed, it can catch on fire and it may not end up well. Make sure you have the lid of your pan close to you. Keep it just in case. If the oil bubbles or catches fire, you have to use your lid.

Wet food is not to be fried. Wet food in hot oil will generate oil bubbling, which means that you can get hurt. After taking your food out of the food container box, make sure it is properly dried before being placed into the fryer.

Be very careful if you have kids or pets at home. We all know they are very curious and can easily come and see what their mom or dad are doing with that interesting machine.

After frying, make sure that the oil is cool before making something with the fryer (cleaning or removing the oil). Keep the handle out of your way, because you can mistakenly touch it and cause unwanted burns. Turn the handle to a side to which you will not be able to touch it by mistake.
